This Watermelon Cucumber Slushie is the perfect drink for summer. Light, refreshing, easily mixed together, and totally cooling – you will fall in love with this one.

I have to admit that when I started creating this drink, I was not aware how delicious this drink would be. You see, my Strawberry Basil Smash Drink has quickly become one of the most popular recipes on the blog. I adore that drink, and it appears – so do you. So I thought it was about time for another upgrade of delicious flavor – making something alcoholic or non-alcoholic, and enjoying summer time!

This recipe also does not use any artificial flavoring or additional sugar (contrary to a lot of other recipes out there). It “only” contains watermelon, cucumber, mint, and a little bit of lime juice. Deliciousness at its simplest is sometimes the absolute best.

Why is this Watermelon Cucumber Slushie Good for You?
Watermelon
Sweet, juicy, and such a refreshing fruit during the summer time. I absolutely adore watermelon and cannot get enough of it this time of the year. Watermelon has an exceptionally high water content, which makes it a perfect fruit during the summer as it allows you to stay hydrated. Hydration is super important for our bodies, especially during the summer time. Our bodies largely consist of water, and every cell in our body needs it. Watermelon contains vitamin A, C, potassium, and magnesium. It also contains a little amino acid called “citrulline”, which may help with improving your performance. Of course, watermelons also contain quite a few antioxidants, including vitamin C, lycopene, and carotenoids.

Antioxidants are an excellent way in order to reduce free radicals. Too many free radicals in our bodies built up oxidative stress, which is one of the main contributors to Western diseases, such as diabetes, heart attacks, stroke, and/or Alzheimer’s disease. Some antioxidants also have fantastic anti-cancer properties. Lycopene, for example, has been shown to reduce insulin-like growth factor. This hormone promotes cell division, which is crucial in controlling cancer cells (as those often can grow out of control). Another antioxidant promotes the autophagy of cancer cells. Autophagy is the process of removing damaged cells. You can read more about it in my post about “What are Zombie Cells?“. Altogether though, not too bad for the humble watermelon 🍉.

How can I adjust this Watermelon Cucumber Slushie recipe to my dietary requirements?
This recipe only consists of a few whole food ingredients and can therefore be enjoyed by all dietary requirements.
